A world leader in the steel and steel processing industry has visited the Materials Processing Institute as it continues to strengthen its ties with global partners.
Delegates from the Steel Division of voestalpine Group visited the research and innovation centre for an official visit, which included discussions about potential future opportunities between the two organisations.
Dr Franz Androsch, Senior VP, R&D and Innovation, D.I. Thomas Bürgler, Head of R&D Hot Metal Production, and Dr Peter Reisinger, Head of R&D Steelmaking, were given a tour of the Institute’s facilities that was led by Materials Processing Institute CEO Chris McDonald.
The delegates were shown around the Institute’s specialist metals research laboratories and pilot plant facilities, as part of the visit.
In its business segments, voestalpine is a globally leading technology and capital goods group with a unique combination of material and processing expertise. voestalpine has around 500 Group companies and locations in more than 50 countries on all five continents and currently employs up to 50,000 staff.

It was a positive visit and great opportunity to showcase our capabilities with voestalpine and its Steel Division, which is at the forefront of high-tech steel making.”

We had fruitful discussions, which brought up quite promising opportunities for a potential future cooperation.”
