The Chemical Analysis laboratory specialises in oxide analysis for slags, fluxes, ashes, ores, sinter and glasses. Metal samples can be analysed by Optical Emission Spectroscopy.

  • Single sample hot stage capable of 1600°C, vacuum and inert gas capable
  • Up to 15 samples can be mounted on spinner stage autochanger
  • HighscorePlus software with ICSD v3.5 and ICDD PDF-2 databases containing nearly 300,000 entries

Optical Emission Spectrometer (SPECTROMAXx Spark-OES)

  • 16 CCDs cover effective range of 140-670 nm
  • 3000-4000 sparks per analysis

  • Rapid analysis of low alloy and stainless steels, as well as Nickel and Cobalt alloys 
  • Accurate detection of ppm concentrations of all alloying and trace elements; from Boron to Lead
  • Spark-OES is the accepted industry standard for rapid, accurate chemical analysis of steels
  • Supports in-house Steel Plant melting, refining and casting processes for bespoke steel chemistries
