Fuzhong Ji co-authors paper at European Oxygen Steelmaking Conference

Fuzhong Ji, a Principal Researcher at the Materials Processing Institute and an acknowledged industry leader in steel research is a co-author of a paper being presented at the European Oxygen Steelmaking Conference (EOSC) taking place on Taranto, Italy 10-12 October 2018.

The paper which will be presented in the 'Charge materials and their preparation' session is: Effect of KAIF4 on the efficiency of hot metal desulphurisation with magnesium

The paper is being presented by Elisabeth M. Beunder - Tata Steel, The Netherlands and the co-authors are:

  • Frank N.H. Schrama - Delft University of Technology, Netherlands and Tata Steel, The Netherlands
  • Elisabeth M. Beunder - Tata Steel, The Netherlands
  • Fuzhong Ji - Materials Processing Institute, United Kingdom
  • Rhian Woolf, Chris Barnes - Tata Steel, United Kingdom
  • Jilt Sietsma, Rob Boom, Yongxiang Yang - Delft University of Technology, The Netherlands

In his career Fuzhong has been Director of the Ironmaking Section of the Research Centre at the Sintering Works at BT Steel, China, a post-doctoral fellow and a research associate at the Steel Research Centre of McMaster University, Canada, He also worked at ArcelorMittal Global R&D Centre, USA and in 2013 Fuzhong joined Tata Steel and subsequently the Materials Processing Institute where his work includes development of a secondary steelmaking kinetic model, steel cleanness, high temperature experiments, thermodynamic assessments and managing the thermodynamic laboratory.

Fuzhong will be attending the conference along with Tony Parkinson a steel industry Strategic Account Manager at the Institute, with responsibility for developing and managing steel industry research partnerships and programmes.

The Conference will present the state of the art technologies and developments and discuss technology issues related to the specific requirements of oxygen steelmaking. The Conference will focus on the latest development in primary steelmaking, ladle metallurgy, plant operation experience, automotive and on-line process analyses, improving steel quality and environmental protection.
