Materials Processing Institute helps organise global forum on next-generation steelmaking technology

The Materials Processing Institute is part of the organising committee for the Hydrogen Iron & Steelmaking Forum taking place on 6th and 7th October. Chris McDonald, CEO of the Institute, will also be joining the Collaboration Session Panel which will look at joint cooperation plans for hydrogen-reduced steelmaking and prospects for Green Steel.

The Forum, hosted by POSCO and supported by worldsteel, will see many of the world’s major steel and mining companies coming together to develop greener steelmaking processes based on hydrogen technologies. It will discuss the latest developments in hydrogen-based steelmaking technologies, global environmental policies on carbon neutrality as well as potential business partnerships and collaborations.

It will provide a focus to promote collaborations for the development of hydrogen iron and steelmaking technology, enable the industry to share advice, ideas and expertise on developing innovative technology to achieve carbon neutrality and provide guidelines on strategies for hydrogen generation, usage of by-products gas and deployment of green technologies.
