Press Forge is delivered to Advanced Materials Development Centre


The Materials Processing Institute has recently taken delivery of a 50 tonne hydraulically driven press forge which is being set up in our Advanced Materials Development Centre and will further extend our capability to support clients with thermo-mechanical processing requirements, as well as supporting research, development and innovation projects.

This forge follows other recent investments in the centre as part of the PRISM programme including a Bogie Hearth Furnace and Rolling Mill.

PRISM is a Programme of Research and Innovation for the UK Steel and Metals sector, providing funding to support innovation in:

• Decarbonisation

• Digital technologies

• Circular economy

The is being delivered by the Materials Processing Institute with funding provided through Innovate UK, part of UK Research and Innovation.

The PRISM programme is supporting industry with collaborative multi partner projects, across the sector and supply chain, to deliver new technology solutions, as well as specific, projects for companies that improve productivity, develop new products, or apply new technologies.
