Plasma Furnace offers new research capabilities

Plasma Furnace offers new research capabilities

Microwave plasma technology is a method of generating and controlling plasma using microwave-frequency electromagnetic radiation. It produces clean, stable, high-density plasma without electrodes, enabling highly controlled chemical reactions that would be difficult or impossible using conventional heating.

Our 6kW microwave plasma rig is used for R&D, pilot scale processing, niche manufacturing, and specialised material treatment. It is used for research and process development across clean energy, advanced materials, and sustainable chemical processing.

The rig provides an opportunity to:

• Experimentally map performance limits

• Optimise operating parameters

• Evaluate plasma–gas–material interactions

This makes it particularly suitable for use where plasma-enabled solutions may offer efficiency, decarbonisation, or materials performance advantages. This includes:

• Feasibility studies

• Research projects

• Innovation programmes

• Industrial problem-solving
