Next phase to commission our new Electric Arc Furnace completed successfully
A second commissioning melt has now been carried out in new Electric Arc Furnace (EAF) . The primary purpose of this melt was to test the new material feeding system which is capable of feeding HBI (Hot Briquetted Iron), DRI (Direct Reduced Iron), granulated iron or small scrap into the centre of the furnace.
This melt was a success and has demonstrated the feeding capability and versatility of the new hopper system.
In addition, this melt also provided an opportunity to carry out additional training and familiarisation for key personnel who will be operating the furnace.
