Sheffield Metallurgical and Engineering Association (SMEA) Lecture on the Developments at the Materials Processing Institute

Chris McDonald. Chief Executive Officer, Materials Processing Institute will give an insight into the progress made in establishing a viable business based on the Tata Steel Teesside Technology Centre which returned to independent ownership in 2014.

Staff have been retained and additional expertise brought in with a wide range of experience in supporting the materials processing and energy sectors and the establishment of

  • Raw Materials Research
  • Electric Steelmaking Research Centre
  • The Rail Technology Research Group
  • Doctoral Training Centre

This lecture will cover some of the latest technology developments at the Institute as well as outlining future innovation needs for the foundation industries sector and the consequences of Brexit on innovation, infrastructure and UK manufacturing more widely.

The event is to be held at the Holiday Inn, Royal Victoria - Sheffield
