SMEs and start-ups to be supported by the Materials Processing Institute

The Materials Processing Institute has pledged its support to small businesses in Tees Valley through a series of events for start-ups and SMEs.

The Middlesbrough-based research and innovation centre is to host two events on recruiting the right staff and how to develop an effective business plan at its SME Technology Centre, on Eston Road.

The first workshop, on recruitment, is to be delivered by Steve Guest, Managing Director of Techconsult, on Tuesday 4th April, while the second will focus on developing a business plan for start-ups and is being delivered by Dawn Huntrod, Business Development Manager at the Institute, and will take place on Wednesday 5th April.

Chris McDonald, Chief Executive of the Materials Processing Institute, said: “The Institute is committed to supporting the Tees Valley business community, which includes start-ups. These events will help support the long-term aspirations of SME owners and those who are new to business through providing them with advice and guidance from experienced professionals.

“Our SME Technology Centre caters to the needs of many people, whether it is research and development or consultancy work, and we regularly host events, workshops and seminars with the aim of promoting entrepreneurialism and supporting supply chain businesses across a number of sectors.”

The Materials Processing Institute is a Delivery Partner within the Business Compass Start Up project. This is a business start-up project being delivered across Tees Valley to assist potential entrepreneurs to become enterprise ready and ultimately self-employed. These workshops are part of this project to support growth and investment in the Tees Valley. The project is part funded by European Regional Development Fund.
