Alan is a Principal Researcher and Section Leader Digital Systems and Data in the Digital Technologies at the Materials Processing Institute. The Digital Technologies Group develops, customises and implements systems for measurement, monitoring and control in harsh industrial environments.  Alan’s background encompasses over 20 years of research in the steel sector, particularly in the application of advanced multivariate statistics and data analytics for diagnostics, prediction and process control.  His current interests are the application of industry 4.0 technologies.
